Out Fit

I walked the line just the way they taught me.
Like a trapeze artist, a circus performer.
Instantly brazen in my attempts at capturing the spotlight
It was only yours I ever wanted…
I fell from such great heights and hit the ground before I knew what happened.
This body cast is not the role I auditioned for
But look for the day when I redress.
I will appear in some other show as the bold peacock.
Outfitted in my own feathers.
You won’t know it’s me until our eyes meet.
And you will double back and think again when you realize; I’ve outgrown your suit.
